Glass Cutting Tips
-
When using a glass cutting tool (glass cutting instrument / glass cutting device), always work on a flat, stable surface. Practice a few times on a scrap piece of glass first—especially if you’re new to a glasscutter or glass cuter.
-
A glass cutter actually scores the glass instead of cutting it. This applies to most glass cutter tools and glass cutters tools, including a stained glass cutter and glass cutters for stained glass.
-
Never score the same line twice, otherwise the cutting wheel is easily damaged. This is especially important for glass cutter stained glass use and stained glass cutting tools.
-
The glass cutting tool cannot be used to cut high hardness objects, such as tempered glass, marble, etc. Standard stained glass cutting tools are designed for regular glass, not tempered glass.
-
When cutting a mirror with our glass cutter tools, you have to score the glass side up rather than the foil side on the bottom. If you score the foil side, there is a chance it will only score the foil and not actually the glass. A stained glass glass cutter works the same way.
-
For circle cutting, use circular glass cutting tools for best results.
